Our Mission, Vision, Goal and Doctrinal Statement

OUR MISSION

Engaging people in relationship with God through knowing His Word.
Our mission statement highlights that life-changing intimacy with God is the true heart of Precept. We emphasize Bible study and Bible knowledge not as ends unto themselves, but because they lead us to personal, transformational relationship with God.

OUR VISION

Every believer in Christ living out God's Word everyday.
By fulfilling our mission, we hope to reach Christians of all ages in all places with the life-transforming truth of God's Word. We pray that as people study and learn God's Word, they will come to know Jesus Christ personally and that their every action - every day - with be shaped by their relationship with Him.

OUR GOAL

God’s Word to the world, inductively.

OUR GUIDING VERSE

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Pslam 119:105 (ESV)

As Scripture points all believers toward God, so Precept's role is to point all people toward God's Word. Precept serves as a guide helping believers know God's Word so they can follow His ways through their lives.

OUR DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

This doctrinal statement summarizes biblical truth that historically and doctrinally has been regarded as essential to the Christian faith.

We ask that all of our leaders be in full agreement with this statement:

The Scriptures
We believe

  1. in the plenary verbal inspiration of the Word of God, and
  2. that both the Old and New Testaments are inerrant in the original writings and are the supreme and final authority for faith and life.

The Godhead
We believe the Godhead exists in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three Persons are one God having precisely the same nature, attributes, and perfections.

The Lord Jesus Christ
We believe in

  1. His eternal existence as God,
  2. His Incarnation and Virgin Birth,
  3. His death on the cross as the substitutionary atonement for sin,
  4. His literal, bodily resurrection from the dead,
  5. His present ministry of intercession in heaven, and
  6. His personal, future return to earth.

The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Godhead, convicts men of sin, regenerates, baptises, indwells, seals, and sets apart believers unto a holy life; that He keeps and empowers believers day by day; that He is the Teacher of the Word of God and the Guide for daily living.

Mankind
We believe that

  1. Man was created innocent and pure, and
  2. Adam fell through the sin of disobedience. Therefore,
  3. All men are corrupted in body, soul, and spirit; and
  4. All men need redemption.

Salvation
We believe that

  1. salvation is by grace, a free gift of God apart from works,
  2. salvation involves repentance, a change of mind in respect to God and thus turning from one's own way to God's way,
  3. salvation is through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ,
  4. all who receive Jesus Christ are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become the children of God, and
  5. true salvation will be manifested by a changed life.

The Future
We believe

  1. in the personal, visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ to earth,
  2. in the bodily resurrection of the just to the eternal abode in the glory of God’s presence, and
  3. in the bodily resurrection of the unjust to judgment and everlasting punishment in the lake of fire.
